The Acting Chief Operating Officer and Head of Aeronautical Services at Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2), Mr. Remi Jibodu, has reaffirmed the terminal’s commitment to deepening collaboration with the media to drive innovation, tourism and economic growth in Nigeria.
Jibodu made this known while receiving the Director of Lagos Operations of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), Princess Adenike Adegoke, during a courtesy visit to the terminal.
Describing the meeting as a strategic engagement between two critical national institutions — aviation and broadcasting, Jibodu said stronger cooperation would help amplify positive developments within the aviation sector and project Nigeria more favourably.
He commended FRCN’s extensive national network and longstanding contribution to public awareness, national integration and development initiatives, noting that the corporation remains a powerful platform for shaping narratives and informing citizens.
According to him, operational excellence, innovation and passenger experience remain central to MMA2’s mission.
“The terminal was deliberately designed not just as a transit hub but as a destination”, he said, explaining that features such as the integrated car park, seamless terminal access, art gallery, retail outlets and vibrant food court were created to ensure travellers feel relaxed and engaged rather than burdened by delays.
Referencing the annual “Detty December” travel surge, Jibodu stressed that MMA2’s role goes beyond infrastructure provision to active tourism facilitation. He noted that management has been intentional in creating an ambience that reflects a modern Nigeria and leaves a positive first impression on returning diaspora and international visitors.
“As one of the first points of contact for many travellers, MMA2 carries a responsibility to help reshape perceptions about the country”, he added.
He expressed confidence that sustained collaboration with institutions like FRCN would further strengthen tourism, support aviation growth and contribute meaningfully to national development.
In her response, Adegoke described FRCN as a powerful national platform capable of projecting institutional milestones across Nigeria and beyond.
She highlighted Radio Nigeria’s vast reach, noting that the Lagos operations alone run three major stations — Metro FM 97.7, Radio One 103.5 and Bond FM, with the latter broadcasting in indigenous languages including Hausa, Igbo and Yoruba, alongside local dialects to promote inclusivity.
“Wherever Nigerians come from, Radio Nigeria provides a familiar voice, making listeners feel at home through language and culture”, she said.
She commended MMA2’s management for visible infrastructure upgrades, professionalism and enhanced passenger experience, describing the facility as a shining example of private sector efficiency in airport management.
Adegoke also praised the growing international profile of the “Detty December” travel season, noting that it has evolved into a global convergence point for Lagos-bound travellers.
She assured the terminal operators of the corporation’s readiness to amplify their achievements across its nationwide broadcast network and digital platforms, including online portals and social media.
The FRCN Director further pledged support through public service announcements and specialised programmes aimed at educating travellers on airport procedures, safety measures and new developments within the aviation sector.
