The National President, National Association of Government Approved Freight Forwarders (NAGAFF), Fwdr Tochukwu Ezeisi, has called on industry stakeholders to come together as a people of common destiny of nationhood to overcome the multifaceted challenges in the maritime sector.

Ezeisi who made this call in his goodwill message during the Easter celebration urged everyone to be renewed in mind, be positive and resolute that the impediments that have limited Industry growth will give way, saying it is all about our commitment to set goals.

According to him, the best form of celebration is for us to emulate and re-demonstrate the love of God to mankind which the Easter season promotes, “to this extent; we must aspire to give hope and a new lease of life to our fellow beings beyond the industry,” he urged further.

“Going forward, may I also employ all faithfuls irrespective of religious inclinations to fervently pray and intercede for our country to overcome its present challenges of tribalism, insecurity, economic down turn, unemployment, corruption, labour problems and poor governance which has subjected the greater numbers to abject poverty and defenselessness.

“Knowing that, we don’t have monopoly of our lives, it behooves on us to hopefully and squarely confront such salient obstacles facing us, ranging from: primordial considerations for appointments, lack of fiscal federalism, lack of intellectual rigour and discipline in our citadels of learning, primitive acquisition of wealth by public officers and value distortions.

“I trust that, with our forthrightness and prayers, we will turn things around for the good of all,” the message read in part.

Ezeisi seized the occasion to reassure the freight forwarding practitioners that NAGAFF will continue in its mission statement of ‘ushering professional Freight Forwarding practices in the Nigeria international frontiers.’

To this end, he said the body will embrace constructive engagements, dialogue, consultation and effective communication as a tool to drive its public policy advocacy aimed at addressing the myriad of challenges confronting the port industry value adding supply chain.

“Pursuance to these obligations, collectively we will not relent in calling for good governance and accountability in our country, especially, amongst the relevant agencies of the government in the maritime industry.

“Adherence to the rules of engagements should be all encompassing,” the NAGAFF President stated.
