As preparations gather momentum for the 17th Anniversary, Lecture and Awards of National Impact Glitz Magazine, the spotlight has turned on two outstanding Nigerian women whose remarkable contributions to business, education and national development have earned them the honour of serving as the Mothers of the Day.
They are renowned entrepreneur and maritime icon, Hajia Bola Muse, and the Registrar of Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), Dr. Mrs. Henrietta Badejo.
The landmark event which will take place at Presken Hotel and Resorts, Ikeja, Lagos, will feature a public lecture on the theme, “Nigeria’s Growth Paradox: Unlocking the Economy’s Full Potential and Creating an Agenda for Nigeria’s 2027 Presidency, keynote presentations by distinguished speakers from various sectors, presentation of awards, and the unveiling of the anniversary documentary, “17 Years of Impact, Achievements, Milestones and Future Vision”.
Muse is one of Nigeria’s foremost entrepreneurs, accomplished freight forwarder and respected maritime professionals. She is the Founder and Chief Executive Officer of the Bomarah Group, a diversified conglomerate with interests in customs clearing, freight forwarding, aviation consultancy, logistics, agriculture and hospitality.
A respected voice in the maritime industry, Muse serves on the Port Operations and Logistics Committee of the Nigerian Ports Consultative Council (NPCC). She is a former National Financial Treasurer of the Association of Nigerian Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA), where she made history as the first woman elected into the association’s National Executive Committee (NECOM).
She is also the only female member of the Board of Grand Fellows of the Institute of Transport and Maritime Technology.
As President of Women in Maritime Africa (WIMAFRICA), Nigeria Chapter, she continues to champion the economic empowerment and professional advancement of women in the maritime sector.
Through the Bomarah Foundation, she has touched countless lives through medical outreaches, prison welfare initiatives, and empowerment programmes for widows, youths and persons living with disabilities.
In recognition of her remarkable contributions to commerce and community develpment, particularly in Northern Nigeria, she holds the revered traditional title of Iyalaje Kano (Mother of Commerce, Kano).
Also to be celebrated is Badejo, who has distinguished herself as an accomplished administrator and education leader.
As the College’s Chief Administrative Officer, she serves as Head of the Registry and Secretary to the Governing Council, Academic Board and all statutory committees. Since joining YABATECH in 2001 as an Administrative Officer, she steadily rose through the ranks, becoming Deputy Registrar in 2017 before her appointment as Registrar.
Badejo holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Education/Geography, a Master’s Degree in Geography, a Nigeria Certificate in Education (NCE) in Biology/Geography and a Diploma in Computer Science. She is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Management (CIPM) and a full member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM).
Under her leadership, the Registry has continued to drive administrative reforms, digital transformation and improved service delivery.
She has championed academic integrity through strict compliance with examination and grading standards, strengthened the institution’s certificate verification system, modernised Registry operations through automation, and supported strategic collaborations, including partnerships aimed at enhancing graduate employability and aligning academic programmes with industry needs.
According to the organisers, the choice of Hajia Bola Muse and Dr. Henrietta Badejo as Mothers of the Day reflects their outstanding contributions to national development, exemplary leadership, professional excellence and commitment to empowering others.
Their recognition is expected to add colour and prestige to the 17th anniversary celebration of National Impact Glitz Magazine.
