
Officials of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) at the C4i center have reported an attempted sea robbery in Nigerian waters.
According to a statement from NIMASA signed by its Head, Public Relations, Mr. Edward Osagie, officials monitoring the situation on Tuesday April 21, 2025 noted an illegal boarding of a Marshall Islands-flagged chemical tanker “Sea Panther” southwest of Brass, Nigeria.
“This is the first of such attempted sea robbery in Nigerian waters since 2021.
“Four individuals boarded the vessel and made away with some personal items of crew members”, the statement disclosed.
It however, added that all crew members are safe and MT Sea Panther has since sailed off Nigerian waters safely.
The statement assured that NIMASA was working closely with relevant security agencies and further investigations into the incident are ongoing.
