The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has recorded a major governance milestone after scoring 82.65 per cent to emerge the 10th in the 2025 Ethics and Integrity Compliance Scorecard (EICS) conducted by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).
The assessment, carried out between May 19 and June 20, 2025, placed NiMet 10th out of 344 Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) evaluated across the country. The result, communicated to the Agency in a letter dated 29 December 2025, earned NiMet a “Substantial Compliance” rating.
Beyond the EICS ranking, NiMet also performed strongly on the ACTU Effectiveness Index (AEI), scoring 82.50 per cent to rank 11th out of 356 MDAs nationwide. This performance accorded the Agency a “Very Effective” status for its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU).
The ICPC’s evaluation was anchored on key governance pillars including management culture and structure, financial management systems, administrative processes, and the operational effectiveness of ACTUs. The outcome affirms the robustness of NiMet’s compliance framework, institutional governance and internal control mechanisms.
In a letter signed by the ICPC Chairman, Dr. Musa Aliyu, the Commission commended NiMet for the structures and processes it has put in place to promote efficiency, accountability and integrity. The Agency’s management was also encouraged to sustain the momentum to ensure consistency in future ratings and continuous improvement in service delivery.
NiMet reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability and professionalism in the execution of its mandate, pledging to further strengthen its institutional systems in line with national integrity and anti-corruption standards.
