The New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) has reacted to the resignation of Abdullahi Ganduje as the national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), citing speculations of a possible deal with Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, the party’s 2023 presidential candidate.
In a statement signed by the NNPP national secretary, Comrade Oginni Olaposi, the party expressed relief at the prospect of Kwankwaso joining the APC. Olaposi noted that Kwankwaso’s continued attempts to create issues for the NNPP, despite his expulsion for anti-party activities, have been a source of concern.
“We will be elated if any proposed deal with Kwankwaso becomes a reality,” Olaposi said. APC may be in a better position to handle his baggage”.
The NNPP official questioned Kwankwaso’s motives, citing his struggles to hijack the party and his followers’ defection to the APC. Olaposi suggested that Kwankwaso’s irrelevance in Kano politics and his nature of not working under anyone would lead to another exit if he joins a new party.
The statement concluded that Kwankwaso’s options are limited, and he could consider joining.
