It was a grand celebration of honour as the Public Private Partnership (PPP) Division of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) recently hosted a send forth party for their outgoing Acting General Managers, Nansel Zhimwan and Ahmad Wanka.
Held at the NPA headquarters in Lagos, the party portrayed the deep appreciation and affection the staff and officers of the Division have for their departing leaders.
In his remarks, Zhimwan, who previously served as the Acting General Manager of New Business Development and Acting General Manager of PPP, expressed his gratitude for the love and support shown by the Division.
He emphasised the importance of hard work and dedication, urging the staff to maintain their commitment to their duties.
Zhimwan, now the Board Secretary and Legal Adviser, also addressed the need for forgiveness and unity within the team, encouraging them to support the incoming General Manager.
Wanka, the former Assistant General Manager of PPP and now the General Manager of Regulatory Services, echoed similar sentiments. He praised the staff for their contributions to the division’s success and called for a positive change in work attitudes.
He highlighted the importance of professional ethics and dedication, stressing that their work attitude reflects their character to the management.
The ceremony also featured speeches from notable guests, including Chief Sir Patrick Ogbo, a retired maritime consultant and analyst, and Ambassador Dr. Chukwuemeka Iwegbuna, the National Publicity Secretary of NAGAFF.
Both speakers commended the outgoing managers for their leadership and mentorship, which have significantly impacted the division and the maritime industry.
Ogbo said: “What I am today was the product of their guidance and mentoring while in the service.
Ogbo who is the Chairman, Cargo Group and Logistics Committee, NAGAFF, advised the workers to be dedicated to duty and work strictly within the rules of their engagement .
On his part, Iwegbuna, the National Publicity Secretary(NPS), NAGAFF, described NPA and NAGAFF as partners in progress in ensuring that Nigerian ports are destination centres as well as a hub in west African subregion.
He thanked the Division for nurturing Ogbo to become a powerful voice in maritime matters within and outside the country and urged the department to inculcate the same type of value in the up coming staff and officers of the organisation.
The event underscored the strong bonds and collaborative spirit within the PPP Division, as well as its commitment to nurturing future leaders in the maritime sector.
The staff and officers were encouraged to continue working diligently and uphold the values instilled by their former leaders.
