Overland Airways has announced the resumption of its flight services between Lagos and Akure, effective March 23, 2026, marking a renewed push to enhance connectivity and support economic activities in Ondo State and the Southwest region.
The airline will operate the Lagos–Akure–Lagos route six days a week, from Monday to Saturday, with early morning schedules tailored to meet passenger demand. Flights will depart Lagos at 8:30 a.m. and return from Akure at 9:40 a.m.
Speaking on the development, Chief Operating Officer of Overland Airways, Aderonke Emmanuel-James, described the move as a major step in strengthening access to Akure and surrounding communities.
“Overland Airways’ resumption of flight services from Lagos to Akure marks a significant milestone in our commitment to providing reliable and convenient air travel services to the people of Ondo State and adjoining communities across the Southwestern zone of Nigeria”, she said.
She added that the new service complements the airline’s existing Abuja–Akure–Abuja operations, further reinforcing its commitment to safe and customer-focused travel.
“With the existing Abuja-Akure-Abuja flights, it complements and strengthens our dedication to providing safe, excellent and customer-centric air travel services to our passengers. Welcome back and we look forward to seeing you on board”, she stated.
Beyond Akure, the airline said it is expanding its domestic network, having restored services from Lagos and Abuja to destinations such as Ibadan, Warri, Jalingo, and Minna, with plans to introduce additional routes in the coming months.
Highlighting the customer-focused schedule, Emmanuel-James noted: “We have commenced with six-days weekly flight services from Lagos to Akure and back to Lagos, catering to the early morning travel needs of our passengers. This schedule is designed with our customers in mind, whether they are travelling for business or leisure”.
“We express our appreciation to our customers and assure them of the consistent and reliable flight services that Overland Airways is noted for”, she added.
Overland Airways also reaffirmed its strong safety and quality credentials, noting that it recently became the first Nigerian airline to attain ISO 9001:2015 certification, in addition to maintaining over a decade of IOSA certification under the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
The airline said these milestones underscore its commitment to global best practices and operational excellence as it continues to expand its footprint across Nigeria.
