… as CG promises a facelift of command come 2024
… tasks officers on commitment to health

The Oyo/Osun Customs Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) for the first time in the last 15 years enjoyed the visit of a Controller General of the Service as the Acting Controller General of Customs (Ag. CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, stormed the Command with his entourage on Monday.
He tasked the elated officers of the Command on the importance of taking responsibility for their health regretting that he got reports that some of them are lackadaisical towards their health.
While stressing that health was of utmost importance in all their engagements he said the officers were at liberty to seek financial assistance as regards their health and also make good use of the various hospitals that have retainership with the NCS.
Adeniyi also used the opportunity of the familiarisation visit to charge the officers to apply caution on the use of the weapons at their disposal.
He charged that careless use of guns must be avoided but be made use of at the last resort, especially as a means of self-defense.
“Let us be cautious of the use of weapons at our disposal. We need to extremely restrain ourselves from the careless use of it. It should be for self-defense as a last resort. There is a need to understand how to deploy new strategies to curb the myriads of crime. You should avoid using the weapons anyhow,” he said.
On promotion exercise in the Service, the Ag. CGC promised that this would be regular going forward; to be carried out as and when due as long as the officers due for promotion meet the required standard and pass the examination.
He commended the newly promoted officers and charged them to always be diligent in the discharge of their duties and also enjoined other officers who are yet to sit for their promotion examinations to brace up and take up responsibilities to fit in for the feat.
The Ag,CGC assured the Command of a glaring facelift of its structure by next year, 2024. “As for this place, come here in 2024 and check it out,” he assured.
The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Command, Comptroller Babajide Jaiyeoba, appreciated the Ag.CG for his visit to the command stating that no CG has visited the command in the last 15 years, noting that this was a testament to the new CG’s promise to support for the Command.
