Super International Travels and Tour has received two awards at the 22nd Akwaaba African Travel Market, with the company unveiling plans to deepen partnerships and accelerate its adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and New Distribution Capability (NDC) technologies.

The company emerged winner in the Travel Icon and Top 100 Tour Operators categories at the three-day event, which held from September 13 to 15, 2026, at Eko Hotel, Victoria Island, Lagos.

Speaking on the awards, Brand Manager of Super International Travels and Tour, Dayo Davies, described the recognition as an appreciation of the company’s contribution to the tourism sector over the past year.

Davies said the awards would further motivate the company to expand its partnerships and improve the range of services available to travellers and travel businesses.

According to him, Super Travels has established more than 30 additional partnerships in the last 12 months, reflecting its commitment to strengthening its position within the travel ecosystem.

He said: “We feel it is a good thing and a way of appreciating what we’ve done so far in the past year regarding tourism. It is also a fuel; we are not stopping anytime soon”.

Expands Travel Technology Offering

Davies said the company attended Akwaaba primarily to connect with industry stakeholders, expand its network and explore new opportunities with travel agencies and other players in the sector.

He disclosed that Super Travels had recently launched a white-label platform designed to enable travel agencies to access a wider range of travel products beyond conventional ticketing.

The platform, he explained, provides access to services including air ambulance and medical evacuation, hotels, instalment payment options, eSIM roaming, tours and other travel-related products.

Davies said the development reflected the company’s transition from a conventional travel agency into a broader travel management company.

“We have been in the industry for 43 years, and over the years, we’ve seen the industry evolve. It is a pride to have been part of that evolution”, he said.

Looking ahead, he said the company was positioning itself for the next phase of the industry by embracing AI and NDC technologies.

Davies said the transition was expected to benefit not only Super Travels and its direct customers, but also travel agencies operating as its sub-agents and affiliates.

He stressed that the company viewed the travel sector as an ecosystem in which industry players could collaborate for mutual growth rather than compete solely against one another.

Forex Instability Remains Major Challenge

On the challenges confronting the travel business, Davies identified foreign exchange (Forex) instability and visa restrictions as major concerns affecting operators and travellers.

He said Super Travels was responding by expanding its partnerships with destination management companies across different parts of the world, while also strengthening relationships with airlines.

“General travel challenges for everyone, including ourselves, remain the same. Forex problem; we also have the visa problem”, he said.

Davies added that the company’s expanding global partnerships were aimed at helping travellers navigate some of the difficulties associated with visa restrictions and other international travel barriers.

He, however, identified Forex instability as the most significant broad-based challenge facing the industry.

Customer Base Continues to Grow

Davies said Super Travels currently works with about 100 Nigerian sub-agents and around 80 Indian sub-agents, alongside corporate organisations and individual travellers who use its online travel agency (OTA).

He said the company currently operates three offices—its head office and another branch in Lagos, as well as an office in Abuja.

According to him, the company’s patronage has remained encouraging, with plans to expand its physical and digital presence as demand for its services grows.

“When it comes to patronage, we are doing well, but like I said, we are getting bigger and better daily”, Davies said.
