The Tin-Can Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has made history by generating a record-breaking ₦159 billion in revenue for August 2025, marking the highest monthly figure in the command’s history.
This impressive feat was disclosed by the Customs Area Controller, Comptroller Frank Onyeka, during a ceremony to decorate newly promoted officers at the command’s head office in Apapa, Lagos.
According to the Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Frank Onyeka, the remarkable revenue performance can be attributed to the effective deployment of the B’Odogwu system and ongoing trade modernisation initiatives. The B’Odogwu platform has integrated critical aspects of port and customs processes under a single digital interface, enabling faster cargo clearance, accurate valuation, and improved monitoring of trade activities.
“B’Odogwu is doing well and it will do better. It has come to stay”, Onyeka said, describing the system as a game-changer in enhancing revenue collection and streamlining port operations.

During the ceremony, 87 per cent of officers who took the promotion examination were promoted, with the command’s Public Relations Officer, Oscar Ivara, being among those decorated. Onyeka praised the leadership of the Comptroller General of Customs (CGC), Adewale Adeniyi, and the hard work of the officers, urging the newly promoted officers to remain committed to excellence. “Keep the flag flying without being misunderstood”, he advised.
The Tin-Can Island Port Command remains focused on facilitating trade, securing government revenue, and supporting port stakeholders in achieving timely and cost-effective cargo clearance. This record-breaking revenue generation is a testament to the command’s dedication to its mandate and the effective implementation of its strategies.
In his remarks, Onyeka expressed gratitude to the CGC for recognising the contributions of officers, saying, “as long as you are promoted, it means the work you have done is appreciated”. He encouraged officers who did not make the promotion list to keep working hard, assuring them that their turn will come.
