The Tincan Island Port Command of the Nigeria Customs Service has made history with a remarkable single-day revenue collection of ₦16,411,402,227.27 on August 19, 2025. This milestone was made possible by the effective deployment of the Unified Customs Management System (UCMS), also known as Bodogwu.
According to Comptroller Frank Onyeka, this achievement showcases the efficiency, transparency, and responsiveness of the Bodogwu system in streamlining port operations. The system enables licensed Customs agents and stakeholders to access payment platforms and complete cargo clearance processes in real-time, eliminating unnecessary delays and administrative bottlenecks.
The Bodogwu system integrates all key elements of port and Customs operations under one digital interface, facilitating faster processing, accurate valuation, and enhanced monitoring of cargo activities. This results in a more predictable and efficient environment for both the Command and port users, supporting Nigeria’s economic goals.
Comptroller Onyeka emphasized that the record-breaking revenue figure demonstrates the game-changing role of the Bodogwu system in modernizing port operations. It also highlights the benefits of collaboration with stakeholders, including terminal operators, shipping companies, licensed Customs agents, and regulatory agencies. This coordinated approach ensures seamless, compliant, and business-friendly cargo clearance processes.
The Command remains committed to enhancing trade facilitation, securing revenue for national development, and supporting port users in achieving timely and cost-effective cargo clearance.
