The Customs Area Controller (CAC) of the Western Marine Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Comptroller Patrick Ntadi, has expressed his commitment to attending the 2025 Edition of the Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) Annual Maritime Lecture (MAMAL) themed ‘Addressing the Burden of War Risk Insurance on Nigerian Maritime Trade’.

The event is scheduled to take place on August 27, 2025, at the Four Points By Sheraton Hotel, Victoria Island.

Ntadi disclosed his willingness to attend the Lecture during a courtesy visit by MARAN’s Executive Council to his office.

According to Ntadi, the topic of the lecture is crucial in addressing the rising cost of goods in the country, and he believes it is essential to explore ways to tackle this issue.

Before the meeting, Ntadi gave MARAN executives a tour of the Command, showcasing the renovations and improvements made since he assumed office.

The command’s new look includes a freshly painted fence and edifice, a new signpost under construction, and cleared surroundings that once posed security risks due to shanties.

The Command is also undergoing infrastructure upgrades, including the renovation of jetties and the construction of a modern office complex. The CAC expressed optimism that the project would be completed before the end of the year. Under his leadership, the Command has been actively fighting smuggling activities, recently seizing 503 bags of rice and arresting six boats used in smuggling along the Badagry axis.

CAC Western Marine Command, Compt. Patrick Ntadi (L) pointing out the extent of renovation work at the Command to the President of MARAN, Godfrey Bivbere (R) during the visit.

MARAN President, Godfrey Bivbere, expressed the association’s readiness to support Ntadi in achieving his mandate, stating that MARAN is committed to fostering a mutually beneficial relationship with the Western Marine Command.

The collaboration between MARAN and the Western Marine Command is expected to promote a more efficient and effective maritime sector.
