The Managing Director/Chief Executive of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, has congratulated the nation on its re-election into the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) Council, securing 163 votes.
This achievement is seen as a resounding endorsement of Nigeria’s leadership in global aviation.
Kuku attributed the success to the dynamic stewardship and foresight of the Honourable Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Mr. Festus Keyamo. “This overwhelming vote of confidence from the international community reaffirms Nigeria’s strategic importance in aviation”, she said.
She emphasised that Nigeria’s presence on the ICAO Council provides a platform to align domestic reforms with international best practices in safety, security, infrastructure, and environmental responsibility.
She expressed determination to leverage this opportunity to fast-track Nigeria’s ambition of becoming the aviation hub of West Africa.
Kuku also congratulated Egypt and South Africa on their re-election, highlighting the importance of Africa’s strengthened representation at ICAO in amplifying the continent’s voice on aviation safety, connectivity, and innovation. She assured stakeholders and the flying public that FAAN will continue to embody excellence, having earned the trust of 163 ICAO member states.
Her remarks underscored Nigeria’s commitment to excellence in aviation and its determination to make a positive impact on the global stage.
