Julius Berger Nigeria PLC has taken significant strides in expanding its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) efforts with major women’s health advocacy programmes in Abuja and Lagos. 

The company’s initiatives focus on promoting women’s health, empowerment, and community development.

In Abuja, Julius Berger partnered the FCT Women Affairs Secretariat and the Family Peace and Women Empowerment Initiative (FAPWEI) to host the 2025 Women’s Health and Advocacy Programme. The event brought together healthcare professionals, policymakers, and community representatives to discuss early detection and management of breast and cervical cancer. 

FCT Mandate Secretary for Women Affairs, Dr. Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, praised Julius Berger’s commitment, saying, “the company is not only building roads, but building people and strengthening communities”.

Julius Berger’s Chief Risk Officer, Mrs. Shakira Mustapha, emphasised the company’s dedication to community development, stating, “when you train a woman, you have trained a nation”. The company also donated 400 bags of rice to beneficiaries, reinforcing its commitment to social investment and sustainable partnerships.

In Lagos, Julius Berger supported a women’s health programme at Gbagada General Hospital, where hundreds of women attended sessions on reproductive health, menopause, and self-care. Healthcare experts stressed the importance of early detection and lifestyle awareness, commending Julius Berger’s role in preventive care. The company highlighted its ongoing collaboration with Gbagada General Hospital, including the rehabilitation of the Intensive Care Unit.

These initiatives demonstrate Julius Berger’s philosophy of nation-building, integrating physical infrastructure with social investment. By focusing on women’s health, the company acknowledges that strong communities are built on informed, healthy, and empowered citizens. As Councillor Christiana Kuboye noted, “the firm’s impact extends beyond infrastructure to meaningful community engagement”.  A physiotherapist at the hospital, Lanre Elegbeleye, also praised Julius Berger’s reputation, saying, “None of their bridges have ever collapsed because they stand for excellence, responsibility, courage, and collaboration.”
