
The Honourable Minister of Marine and Blue Economy, Adegboyega Oyetola, on Thursday paid a courtesy visit to the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Rashidi Ladoja, at the monarch’s palace in Ibadan, Oyo State.
During the visit, the Minister paid homage to the revered traditional ruler and elder statesman while holding discussions on national development, purposeful leadership and the continued progress of the South-West region.
Oyetola expressed appreciation for the Olubadan’s enduring contributions to peace, unity and political stability in Ibadanland and beyond, noting that the monarch’s leadership continues to serve as a stabilising force within the region’s traditional and civic landscape.
The Minister also acknowledged the importance of traditional institutions in promoting social harmony and supporting government efforts aimed at national development.
Responding, Oba Ladoja warmly welcomed the Minister and commended his record of service to the nation, particularly in his current role leading initiatives to advance Nigeria’s marine and blue economy sector.
The monarch encouraged the Minister to sustain efforts aimed at unlocking the vast potential of the country’s maritime resources to drive economic growth and create employment opportunities for Nigerians.
Both leaders emphasised the importance of collaboration between traditional institutions and public office holders in fostering development, strengthening community bonds and maintaining stability across the region.
The meeting highlighted the enduring partnership between government and traditional authorities in supporting policies and initiatives designed to promote national progress.
