The newly appointed Commander of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Tincan Strategic Command, Commander Solomon Gbadebo Omotosho, on Wednesday, March 25, 2026, paid a courtesy visit to the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Kirikiri Lighter Terminal (KLT) Area Command in Lagos, signaling a renewed push for inter-agency collaboration against drug trafficking.

The visit, which formally introduced the new Commander to the KLT Command, underscored the shared commitment of both agencies to tightening surveillance and enforcement across Nigeria’s maritime corridors.

Welcoming the delegation, Acting Customs Area Controller, Deputy Comptroller Bolaji Adigun, described the engagement as both strategic and timely, noting that port operations remain a critical frontline in combating the movement of illicit drugs.

He reaffirmed the Command’s dual mandate of enforcing regulations while facilitating legitimate trade.

Adigun highlighted intelligence sharing, joint cargo profiling, and coordinated examinations as essential tools for dismantling drug trafficking networks and boosting operational efficiency.

In his remarks, Omotosho stressed the importance of building a strong working relationship with the KLT Command, emphasising that seamless communication, proactive intelligence exchange, and joint enforcement actions are vital to achieving impactful results.

He reiterated the NDLEA’s commitment to close collaboration with the Nigeria Customs Service in disrupting drug syndicates and strengthening national security.

The visit also featured an exchange of plaques, symbolising goodwill and a shared resolve to sustain cooperation.

Both agencies concluded the meeting by reaffirming their determination to deepen operational synergy, enhance coordination, and present a united front in safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime domain from illicit activities.
