
Skyway Aviation Handling Company (SAHCO) Plc has strengthened its foothold in Nigeria’s aviation sector, emerging as the sole ground handling service provider at the newly commissioned Gateway International Airport in Iperu, Ogun State.
The airport, inaugurated by President Bola Tinubu, marks a major milestone in Nigeria’s aviation infrastructure development and positions Ogun State as a growing hub for both passenger and cargo operations. SAHCO’s selection as the exclusive ground handler highlights its strong reputation for operational efficiency, adherence to safety standards, and delivery of world-class aviation services.
Chairman of SAHCO, Barr. Dr. Taiwo Afolabi, expressed pride in the company’s pivotal role in the airport’s launch, describing the appointment as a testament to the confidence reposed in SAHCO’s expertise and consistent performance across the country.
He noted that the development underscores SAHCO’s commitment to advancing Nigeria’s aviation industry through sustained investment in modern equipment, skilled manpower, and innovative service solutions. According to him, the company is fully prepared to ensure seamless operations at both new and existing airports nationwide.
Afolabi further revealed that through its partnership with Allied Air, a reputable Nigerian cargo airline, SAHCO is well-positioned to drive efficient cargo operations at the airport. He explained that the modern warehouse facility will support seamless handling of imports and exports, particularly time-sensitive and high-value goods, thereby boosting capacity in key sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, and e-commerce.
During the commissioning, SAHCO delivered a full range of ground handling services, including ramp handling, passenger facilitation, cargo processing, and overall operational support, ensuring a smooth and successful event.
