…targets 60,000-square-foot luxury lounge network by 2028

Delta Air Lines has strengthened its premium travel offering at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) with the opening of Phase One of its second Delta One Lounge, marking another major investment in one of its most important global gateways.

The newly opened facility, located on the mezzanine level of Terminal 2, spans 4,000 square feet and accommodates 75 guests. It represents the first phase of a broader expansion project scheduled for completion in 2028, when Delta’s combined lounge footprint at LAX will reach 60,000 square feet with seating capacity for more than 1,000 guests.

As part of the expansion, Delta will also open an 11,000-square-foot Delta Sky Club in Terminal 2 in 2027, further reinforcing its premium airport experience. The additions will expand Delta’s global lounge portfolio to 60 locations, the largest of any U.S.-based airline.

Vice President of Delta Sky Club and Lounge Experience, Megan Humphreys, said the investment aligns with the airline’s strategy of delivering an elevated premium experience across its global network.

“This investment remains congruent to our strategy of elevating the premium experience both at LAX and across our global network”, Humphreys said.

“With demand for premium travel continuing to rise and our global footprint expanding, we’re thoughtfully looking at every square foot we have—designing every detail with intention and to align with the Delta One experience our customers deserve”.

Designed as an intimate and tranquil space, the Terminal 2 Delta One Lounge complements the larger Delta One Lounge in Terminal 3. While each Delta One Lounge has its own unique identity, the Terminal 2 facility places particular emphasis on culinary excellence, delivering the same premium à la carte dining experience available in Terminal 3.

The lounge features expansive airfield views through floor-to-ceiling windows, while artwork from seven Los Angeles-based artists reflects the city’s rich cultural heritage.

Premium amenities include three shower suites, four cabana-style bathrooms, a full-service premium bar, wireless charging stations and portable monitors to support both relaxation and productivity. Upon completion of Phase Two in 2028, the entire space will be transformed into a fully integrated Delta One Lounge experience consistent with the airline’s flagship lounge standards worldwide.

The new facility also enhances Delta’s seamless “curb-to-cloud” premium journey. Eligible Delta One passengers can check in through the airline’s private Terminal 3 entrance, enjoy dedicated security screening and take advantage of golf cart transportation directly to the Terminal 2 lounge.

A key highlight of the new lounge is its locally inspired culinary programme.

According to Delta Culinary Director Michael Rouleau, the menu showcases California’s rich agricultural heritage through fresh, seasonal ingredients sourced from local farms.

“Our menu incorporates farm-fresh ingredients year-round, drawing inspiration and delectable produce from California’s rich agricultural landscape. When combined these rich ingredients create dishes that are both vibrant and grounded in the beauty of California”, Rouleau said.

Guests receive full table service with an evolving menu featuring premium dishes such as lamb bolognese with house-made lumache pasta, hamachi crudo prepared with fish flown daily from Japan, and the signature French onion soup.

Breakfast offerings include acai bowls, huevos rancheros, freshly baked pastries and small-batch jams supplied daily by the acclaimed East Hollywood restaurant Sqirl.

The premium beverage programme includes handcrafted cocktails inspired by Delta’s international network, including the “Island Sapphire”, created to celebrate the airline’s Los Angeles-Honolulu route.

Guests also have access to freshly prepared juices, smoothies, specialty coffee from Santa Cruz-based Verve Coffee Roasters, tea and other premium refreshments.

Delta said the latest investment underscores its long-term commitment to Los Angeles as its premier West Coast gateway.

By 2028, LAX will feature four dedicated Delta lounge facilities – two Delta One Lounges in Terminals 2 and 3, alongside two Delta Sky Clubs.

The airline currently operates 151 peak-day departures from LAX to 50 destinations worldwide. Its growing international network includes new nonstop services to Hong Kong and Chicago O’Hare, while additional flights to Vancouver will commence on November 21 and Newark in April 2027.

The airline noted that the continued expansion of its premium facilities is also part of preparations to serve the anticipated increase in international travel ahead of the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
