The Chief Executive Officer of Aero Contractors, Captain Ado Sanusi, has called for stronger collaboration between the Federal Government and private sector operators, saying such partnership is critical to accelerating growth in Nigeria’s aviation industry and boosting its contribution to national development.
Sanusi made the call while hosting the Special Adviser to the President on Policy Coordination and Head of the Central Results Delivery Coordination Unit (CRDCU), Hajia Hadiza Bala Usman, during a visit to Aero Contractors’ facilities, including its Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) centre.
During the tour, Usman inspected the airline’s MRO facility and expressed keen interest in how government could support private investment in the aviation sector to enhance its growth and contribution to the nation’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
Speaking on the visit, Sanusi described it as an honour to receive the presidential adviser, noting that the engagement underscored the importance of direct interaction between policymakers and industry stakeholders.
“It was an honour to welcome Hadiza Bala Usman to Aero Contractors. I had the pleasure of taking her on a tour of our operations, particularly our Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) centre, which continues to position Aero Contractors as a strategic aviation asset capable of supporting operators across West and Central Africa.
“What impressed me most was not only her genuine curiosity and the depth of her questions, but her sincere interest in how government can better support the growth of our aviation industry. Though not an aviator by background, her command of policy, performance and institutional development was evident throughout—a reflection of the results-driven mandate she leads at the CRDCU”, he said.
Sanusi stressed that sustained engagement between government and industry players is essential for creating an enabling environment for businesses to flourish.
“Her visit reinforced the value of constructive collaboration between government and industry. When public servants engage directly with stakeholders, ask the right questions and focus on practical solutions, they help create the environment in which businesses thrive and contribute even more to national development.
“Thank you, Hadiza, for taking the time to visit us. I wish you continued success in your national assignment. With public servants of her calibre – thoughtful, rigorous and committed to delivery, I remain confident about the future of Nigeria’s aviation industry and of our country,” he added.
He said the visit provided an opportunity to showcase the airline’s technical capabilities and its commitment to advancing the aviation industry through innovation, engineering excellence and strategic collaboration.
According to the airline, Bala Usman expressed satisfaction with the equipment, facilities and technical personnel at the MRO centre, which has continued to provide maintenance support to airlines within Nigeria and across the African region.
The airline noted that its MRO facility has built decades of engineering expertise, backed by internationally recognised standards and a highly skilled workforce committed to delivering quality service.
“Every aircraft maintained in our MRO reflects our unwavering commitment to operational excellence and the continued growth of African aviation”, the airline stated.
