Air Peace has taken another major step in its fleet expansion drive with the delivery of a new Embraer 190, the 8th aircraft added to its fleet in 2026, as the airline continues to build capacity for its growing domestic, regional and international network.
The 96-seat Embraer 190 touched down at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport Terminal 2, Lagos, about 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, bringing the airline’s Embraer fleet to 18 aircraft.
The aircraft was flown into Lagos by Captain Mrs. Ibironke Rotimi-Olajide, marking another addition to the fleet as Air Peace intensifies its investment in aircraft and network expansion.
Air Peace, West and Central Africa’s largest airline, is the launch customer for Embraer’s latest E2 series in Africa, with the growing Embraer fleet complementing its wider fleet of Boeing aircraft deployed across its domestic, regional and international operations.
Eighth Aircraft This Year
The latest delivery is the eighth aircraft acquired by Air Peace in 2026, underscoring the scale and pace of its fleet expansion programme.
Beyond the Embraer additions, the airline has also acquired five Boeing 737-800 aircraft this year, further strengthening its capacity and providing a more diverse fleet mix to support its expanding network.
The latest Embraer 190 has been named after Mrs. Eka Sunmonu, wife of Mr. Mutiu Sunmonu, former Managing Director of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC).
The naming is significant as it marks the first time Air Peace has named an aircraft after someone outside the Onyema family.

96 Seats, Two-Class Configuration
The new aircraft is configured with 12 Business Class and 84 Economy Class seats.
Its 1-2 Business Class configuration provides passengers with greater personal space and privacy, while the 2-2 Economy Class arrangement eliminates the middle seat.
The aircraft also offers generous legroom, a spacious cabin environment and in-seat power sockets, combining passenger comfort with the operational flexibility associated with the Embraer 190.
Fleet Built For Network Growth
Commenting on the latest addition, Air Peace Spokesperson, Mr. Osifo-Whiskey Efe, said the aircraft reflected the airline’s deliberate approach to fleet growth and network development.
According to him, the growing fleet is being designed to give the airline greater flexibility while improving schedule resilience and connectivity across the markets it serves.
“The arrival of another Embraer 190 is an important milestone in our strategic fleet expansion programme. We are deliberately building a diverse and versatile fleet that gives us the operational flexibility required to strengthen our network, improve schedule resilience and provide greater connectivity across the markets we serve.
“With 18 Embraer aircraft now in our fleet, alongside our growing Boeing portfolio, we are building capacity for the long term. Every fleet decision is tied to our broader expansion strategy and our commitment to deploying the right aircraft across our domestic, regional and international network”, Osifo-Whiskey stated.

Expanding Connectivity
The latest acquisition reinforces Air Peace’s sustained investment in a modern and strategically balanced fleet as it continues to expand its operational capacity.
With its fleet continuing to grow, the airline is targeting stronger connectivity within Nigeria, a deeper footprint across Africa and increased capacity to support its international operations.
The expansion is being driven by continued investment in aircraft, network development and operational capacity as Air Peace positions its fleet to meet the demands of its evolving market.
