Aviation Hall of Fame (AHoF), a non-governmental organisation, has unveiled a 16-member Advisory Council, for effective and painstaking take-off.

Members of the Council according to a statement from the body, comprises tested professionals drawn from various departments in the aviation industry and other related fields.

The Aviation Hall of Fame was established on May 9, 2023, to recognise and reward merit and encourage excellent performance and highest standards in service delivery, as a panacea to enhancing safety and security in the Aviation Industry.

The body, which is the brainchild of three astute aviation practitioners, Professor Anthony Kila, Gboyega Adeoye and Wole Shadare, is to set in motion activities that will launder as well as promote dedication, honesty and hard work within the Nigerian Aviation Sector and beyond.

The members include: Doctor Harold Demuren, Aeronautical Engineer and former Director General of the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Doctor Gabriel Olowo, Immediate Past President, of Aviation Round Table Initiative (ART) and Chairman Sabre Global Technology (CWA), Mr Kabir Mohammed, Managing Director, Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Engineer Akin Olateru, Director General, Nigerian Safety Investigation Bureau, Doctor Anastasia Gbem, Former Legal Adviser at Nigerian Airspace Management Agency (NAMA) and the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Mrs Titilayo Akerele, Sociologist and Ace Labour Activist, skilled in aeronautical information management and worked at the NAMA, Mrs Nkechi Onyenso, CEO, Pathfinders

Others are: His Royal Highness, Oba Adeniyi Ajakaye, former Director of Administration FAAN and the Oluyin of Iyin, Ekiti State, Doctor Oluropo Owolabi, formerly of the Nigeria Airways and Managing Director, SAHCOL, Doctor 11Daniel Young, Mr Lanre Arogundade, Coordinator, International Press Centre (IPC), Mr. Bode Olorunfemi, Executive Director, Corporate Accountability and Public Participation among others

 According to Kila, “The Advisory Council was carefully put together to comprise eminent Nigerians and thoroughbred professionals, who have attained excellence in their various fields through selfless service, discipline and unalloyed commitment to nation building and humanity.

He said the AHoF has revved into operations and would soon debut with a complimenting stakeholders-centric publication, Aviation Metrics Magazine (AM Magazine), to inform, entertain and educate the entire aviation community.

According to him, the publication will also play a role in featuring personalities that perform creditably in their fields of endeavour and throw such to the public for evaluation and possible rewards.

Some of the council’s members, Olowo said,  the birth of the Aviation Hall of Fame is novel, unprecedented and commendable in the Aviation Industry, in that the group of individuals who deserved such honour must have made a significant impact through proven historical contribution to the aviation sector.

“It endorses a verse of the national anthem which says, “The labour of our heroes past shall never be in vain …” and leaves a historical record for the generation to come. I doff my hat for the initiators of the novel idea.”

Gbem said: “This is a highly commendable innovation that needs to be embraced and supported by all stakeholders both within and outside the Aviation Industry.”

The members of the Advisory Council are to act as guides to the running of the AHoF for seamless, effective output.
