The Cross River State Carnival Commission has expressed deep appreciation to stakeholders, participants, and residents of the State following the successful staging of the 20th edition of Carnival Calabar, describing the landmark celebration as a triumph of collective effort and commitment.

In a statement issued after the event, the Chairman of the Commission, Gabe Onah, thanked individuals and organisations whose contributions ensured the seamless planning and execution of the carnival, noting that their collaboration was central to delivering a memorable anniversary edition.

Onah praised the of carnival bands, sponsors, security and protocol teams, volunteers, state institutions, artistic and creative professionals, revellers, environmental groups, safety and emergency responders, marketing teams, ad hoc staff, and other contributors whose efforts shaped the success of the festival themed “Traces of Time”.

He also extended special appreciation to residents and visitors who participated in the celebration, describing their presence as vital to sustaining Carnival Calabar’s reputation as Africa’s biggest street party.

Congratulating Calas Vegas as winners of the fiercely contested carnival, Onah commended all participating bands for their creativity and competitive spirit. He also acknowledged the children who took part in the festivities and their parents for supporting youth participation and nurturing the future of the carnival.

According to him, the true winners of the event were the host communities, whose warmth and hospitality embodied Calabar’s famed welcome and cultural richness.

Onah further praised the Cross River State Governor for providing the leadership and resources required to ensure the success of the 20th anniversary celebration, while also commending the media for their sustained support and promotion of the carnival.

“As we await the impact figures and reports from the carnival, we remain committed to charting a path toward even greater success in the years ahead”, he said.

He concluded by wishing all participants and visitors safe journeys back to their destinations and a prosperous New Year, expressing hope for continued growth and excellence in future editions of Carnival Calabar.
