The Carnival Calabar Commission has announced that this year’s theme unveiling ceremony will take place in Lagos, with the event scheduled for May 31.
The annual unveiling serves as a key milestone in preparations for the carnival, revealing the creative direction that guides participating bands in choreography and overall presentation.
Beyond its artistic significance, the event provides a strategic platform for engaging stakeholders, sponsors, and members of the diplomatic community ahead of the main festivities.
Dignitaries expected at the event include Ambassador Gautier Mignot of the European Union Delegation in Abuja as Special Guest of Honour, and Ambassador Paulo Santos of Portugal as Guest of Honour.
In the lead-up to the unveiling, the Chairman of the Carnival Calabar Commission, Dr. Gabe Onah, paid a strategic visit to executives of MultiChoice Nigeria, including the CEO, Kemi Okunola, and the Executive Head of General Entertainment, Dr. Busola Tejumola. He was accompanied by the Carnival’s Lead Marketing Consultant, Mary Ephraim Egbas.
Discussions during the visit focused on plans for digital transformation and global streaming of the event, aimed at expanding its international reach. The unveiling ceremony will be held at Eko Hotels & Suites.
Recognised as Africa’s largest street dance parade, Carnival Calabar is held annually in Cross River State every December and remains one of West Africa’s premier tourism attractions, drawing millions of visitors each year.
