President of the Chartered Institute of Transport Administration (CIoTA), Doctor Bashir Jamoh, has charged the newly inaugurated Rivers State Executive to observe strictly, the code of ethics and core values of the Institute while coordinating the activities of State’s Chapter.
Represented by Evangelist Chinda, the President gave this charge on Friday, at the inauguration of the interim executive meant to serve for a period of nine months after which they will elect a substantive executive.
He encouraged them to embark on a strategic membership drive and promptly pay all dues and levies as may be approved by the Council.
Handing over the certificates of office to the team, the National Publicity Secretary of CIoTA, Mrs. Chizoba Anyika, called on the new chairman and members to ensure the visibility of the Institute and remain loyal to the authority.
In addition, she urged them to coordinate transport programmes in Rivers State for the advancement of the Institute while using their Knowledge and skills for the training and re-training of the practitioners in the transport profession.
Earlier in his address, the Institute’s Registrar, Mr. Rasheed Aiyelebagan, advised the new team to ensure they attend all mandatory programmes, meetings and social events where members are invited.
Giving the vote of thanks, the Financial Secretary appreciated Doctor Willie Odenwigie, a member who provided the facility for the event and the National Provost Mr. Ken Ibiama for providing the logistics for the visiting team.
On the other leg, the team visited the Director of Centre for Logistics and Transport (CELTRAS), Prof. Osi Akpoghome, to pay homage for the great job the Centre is doing.
The team disclosed that it will pay a formal visit to the school in due course when the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) strike is called off. The CIoTA Rivers State interim executive committee members are Doctor Bob Ekwuribe as Chairman, Mrs. Queen Okocha as Vice Chair, Mr. Tega Edeki as Secretary, Mr. Emmanuel Agbor as Public Relations Officer, Mr. Prescious Okwu as Financial Secretary, Mr. Peter Longjohn as Treasurer and Doctor Udoaka Udoaka as the Adviser.
