… Folorunso, Ufere, Eniola-Jegede, Others to receive Amazons Award
The immediate past President of WISTA Nigeria, Mrs. Eunice Ezeoke, has been nominated as the 2024 Face Of Maritime International (FOMI) Role Model Ambassador.
By this nomination the upcoming 2024 FOMI Grand Finale tagged ‘A Night Of Beauty & Women Empowerment’ will be held in her honour to celebrate her personality, her virtues and achievements in line with the yearly tradition of using FOMI to honour and celebrate one outstanding female maritime professional in Nigeria.
Recall that Mrs. Rollens Macfoy, President of WIMA Nigeria; Mrs. Mary Madu Hamman, former President, WISTA Nigeria; Hajia Lami Tumaka, former Director, Special Duties of NIMASA; Hadiza Bala Usman, former Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA); Dr. Mrs. Fola Rogers, former Executive Director, Human Resources and Administration of SIFAX Group and Mrs. Dabney Shall-Holma, former Director, Commercial Shipping Services of the Nigerian Shippers Council were honored in this capacity between 2022 down to 2017 respectively and Macfoy would be glad to hand over this baton of honour to Ezeoke this year.
As FOMI Role Model Ambassador 2024, lEzeoke is expected to play a role model to FOMI queens and all aspiring young women interested in maritime career; mentor up-coming female maritime professionals already in the maritime career path and support FOMI pet-project, called Girls-Go-To-Sea campaign (GGOTSEC).
Similarly, FOMl said it will also confer Maritime Amazons (MA) Award to the Secretary General of African Ship Owners Association, Mrs. Funmi Foluronsho; former Port Manager, Rivers Port Complex of NPA, Chief Carolyn Akum Ufere; Coordinating Director, SIFAX Group, Wunmi Eniola-Jegede; and Current President of WISTA Nigeria, Mrs. Odunayo Ani.
Other nominees for the MA Award include the Convener of Lagos Maritime Week, Barr. Mrs. Tosan Emore-Edodo; Director of Admin, NIOMR, Mrs. Hogan Ihuoma Gloria; Director Zonal Offices of NSC, Mrs.Ify Okolue; and the Managing Solicitors,Trizon Law Chambers, Barr. Mrs. Foluke Akinmoladun.
In a press statement issued in Lagos on Friday, the Director of FOMI, Mr. Sylvanus Obasi, noted that the award honours would be conferred to the nominees at the forthcoming FOMI 2024 Night Of Beauty and Women Empowerment scheduled for September 22 at Piccadilly Suite Agungi-Lekki, Lagos.
Obasi further disclosed that congratulatory messages from friends and well-wishers of the awardees would be welcomed and published in the event brochure by the organisers at subsidised rates.
