FAAN MD/CEO, Olubunmi Kuku

At the 4th Air Transport Industry Awards, 2025, held recently in Lagos, the Managing Director of the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, won the prestigious ‘CEO of the Year Award’.

Organiser of the award, Air Transport Quarterly (ATQ) publisher, Mr. Supo Atobatele, said the CEO was recognised for her exceptional leadership and significant contributions to the aviation sector.

He cited Kuku’s pioneering role as a female Managing Director of FAAN, emphasising that she has “shattered glass ceilings and redefined the boundaries of leadership in the aviation sector”.

According to him, Kuku’s achievement serves as “a beacon of hope”, encouraging others to pursue their passions and challenge the status quo. 

Atobatele said the CEO’s leadership has achieved notable growth, innovation and success, as he commended her “exceptional vision, strategic acumen, and unwavering dedication to excellence”.

As the first female CEO to receive this esteemed award, Kuku has set a record of inspiration for other women to follow.

“With hard work, resilience, and determination, anyone can achieve greatness regardless of gender or background”, the publisher pointed out.

This is just as industry stakeholders have continued to hail Kuku’s groundbreaking achievements in managing Nigeria’s complex airport system.
