Concerned with the security of the nation and safety of citizens, the National President of the Council of Maritime Transport Unions and Association (COMTUA), Adeyinka Aroyewun, has urged the Police Force to investigate an allegation made by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) on the discovery of over 100 units of fake number plates at the MPS Park in Apapa, used for illegal movement and activities.
Aroweyun made the call in a letter to the Inspector General of Police on Thursday, noting that such illegal activities poses a great threat to the security of the country and safety of the citizens.
He therefore, called on the Police to sweep into immediate action to both investigate and prosecute the perpetrators of this crime.
“I am writing to request for your kind consideration and immediate action on an allegation made by the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) on the discovery of over 100 units of fake number plates used for illegal movement and activities. The discovery was made at the MPS Park in Apapa.
“This is a very serious and worrisome issue that needs to be addressed as soon as possible. The use of fake number plates for illegal activities poses a great threat to the security of our nation and the safety of its citizens. It is important that the perpetrators of this crime are brought to justice and punished accordingly.
“I hereby urge you to launch an investigation into this matter and ensure that those responsible for the production and distribution of the fake number plates are identified and prosecuted. It is imperative that the police take swift and decisive action to bring an end to this illegal activity and protect the interests of the public.
“I trust that you will give this matter the attention it deserves and take appropriate action to ensure that justice is served. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter,” the letter read.
