The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) has confirmed a fire outbreak at Terminal 1 of the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, with emergency response operations currently underway.

In an update issued on the incident, FAAN disclosed that its firefighting teams are actively working to fully contain and extinguish the blaze. The authority also confirmed that the orderly evacuation of passengers and airport personnel is ongoing to ensure safety within the terminal premises.

To bolster containment efforts, FAAN has activated its mutual aid arrangements, calling in reinforcements from the Lagos State Government, Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCECC), the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), and other relevant emergency response agencies.

The airport authority reassured the public that no loss of life has been recorded as of the time of filing this report. It emphasised that all necessary measures are being taken to safeguard lives and protect property.
