… as school organises orientation for students 

16 local government areas in Kwara State have sponsored 31 students to the International Aviation College, Ilorin, for Flight Dispatcher course.

In a recent befitting orientation programme for the newly admitted students, the Acting Rector of the College, Captain Yakubu Okatahi, expressed his profound gratitude and appreciation to the Executive Governor of Kwara State, Mallam AbdulRahman AbdulRasaq, for his support to the College. 

He equally thanked the Deputy Governor of the state, Kayode Alabi, for facilitating local government sponsorship for Flight Dispatchers’ Course at the College. 

He thereafter assured the gathering that the college management would not disappoint the confidence the state and local governments have in them. 

However, he made it known at the programme that flight dispatchers are  important and relevant as pilots in the aviation industry. 

The Acting Rector therefore congratulated the students and advised them to study well with a view to coming out with a flying colours.

In his own speech, the Chairman of ALGON, Kwara State Chapter, Olajide Shonibare, thanked the state governor and his deputy for encouraging the LG TIC chairmen in the state to sponsor at least two indigenes from each local government for the course.

Shonibare expressed optimism about the future of the sponsored indigenes in the area of job opportunities. 

He assured the college management of ALGON’s continued support and cooperation with the college in the area of students’ sponsorship for aviation related courses at the institution.

The Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Doctor (Mrs.) Mary Arinde, applauded the state governor for his interest in youth development and empowerment. 

She admonished the lucky students from the 16 LGAs in the state to grab the opportunity they have now and make judicious use of same in the over all interest of their respective LGAs in particular and Kwara State at large.

In his brief address, the Chairman of the Governing Council of the College, Alhaji Ahmed Gobir, appreciated the state governor and his deputy for extending state government’s support to the state chapter of ALGON to sponsor their indigenes for Flight Dispatchers Course at the college. 

He enjoined the students to be good ambassadors of their respective LGAs, promising automatic employment for the best student.

The Chief Ground Instructor (CGI) of the college, Mr. Mohammed, charged the new students to be ready for a rigorous academic exercise which according to him would last six months.

In his vote of thanks, the Registrar of the college, Mr. Mohammed Jibril, on behalf of the governing council, management, staff and students of the college thanked the dignatories present at the event for honouring the college’s invitation. 

He assured the ALGON Chairman and other TIC Chairmen present at the ceremony that the college would not disappoint the confidence and trust the state LGAs has in the college.
