Nigeria’s foremost maritime beat association, Maritime Reporters Association of Nigeria (MARAN) has congratulated Deputy Comptroller General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, on his appointment as the Acting Comptroller General of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS).
In a statement signed by the President and Secretary General of MARAN, Mr. Godfrey Bivbere and Mr. Babajide Okeowo, respectively, the association commended the federal government for appointing Mr. Adewale Adeniyi, saying the appointment was in recognition of his dedication to the NCS and the advancement of the country.
Describing Adeniyi as a round peg in a round hole, Bivbere said Adeniyi is a fine and well-trained Customs officer and one with a penchant for excellence who carries out his duties with utmost dedication and passion.
“We at MARAN congratulate DCG Adewale Adeniyi on this appointment which is a testament and recognition of his contributions to the development of the Service and the growth of the national economy.
“As a fine officer, we have no doubt that his wealth of experience and knowledge in the Customs operations will bring about the required change in the Service and position the NCS for optimal performance in trade (import and export) facilitation.
We remember with fond memories, his sterling performance as the spokesperson of the Service for almost two decades and the lasting impression and indelible footprint that he left during this period.
“We are hopeful that he will replicate his penchant for excellence in his new position as the CG of Customs” the statement read.
It would be recalled that DCG Adewale Adeniyi was announced as the new Acting Comptroller General of Customs by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu bringing to an end the eight-year tenure of Col. Hameed Ali (Rtd).
