It was an emotional highlight of the MotoringWorld 30th Anniversary celebration as the late veteran motoring broadcaster and Founder/CEO of Autoglobe, Babatunde Bola Ojo, was posthumously honoured with the Broadcast Excellence Award at the MUSON Centre, Onikan, Lagos.

The award, presented during the anniversary ceremony, recognised Ojo’s outstanding contributions to transport and automotive broadcasting in Nigeria. Widely respected for his professionalism, passion and unwavering dedication, he used the electronic media to promote road safety, mobility and the growth of the nation’s automotive industry.

The colourful event attracted senior government officials, automotive industry leaders, transport stakeholders, motoring journalists and corporate executives, all gathered to celebrate three decades of MotoringWorld’s contributions to automotive journalism and industry advocacy.

Speaking on the significance of the award, Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of MotoringWorld, Femi Owoeye, described the honour as a fitting tribute to a broadcasting legend whose work helped shape public understanding of transportation and motoring issues in Nigeria.

“The Posthumous Broadcast Excellence Award bestowed on the late Babatunde Bola Ojo is our way of preserving the legacy of a man whose dedication to motoring and transport broadcasting inspired generations”, Owoeye said.

“He used the microphone not merely to inform but to educate, advocate and promote safer roads and a stronger automotive industry. Though he is no longer with us, his impact continues to resonate across the industry, and we believe his remarkable contributions deserve to be remembered and celebrated”.

Owoeye noted that the MotoringWorld @30 celebration was organised not only to mark the publication’s three decades of service to Nigeria’s automotive sector but also to recognise individuals whose vision, professionalism and commitment have driven the industry’s growth.

Ojo’s posthumous recognition was one of several honours presented to distinguished personalities and organisations for their exceptional contributions to Nigeria’s automotive, transport and mobility sectors over the past 30 years.

The anniversary celebration also featured a keynote address by former Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Corps Marshal, Boboye Oyeyemi, alongside industry reflections and special awards presented to outstanding automotive journalists, industry leaders and corporate organisations, underscoring MotoringWorld’s enduring commitment to excellence and the sustainable development of Nigeria’s automotive ecosystem.
