…says stronger media presence will help protect consumers from counterfeit products

Mursty Adinoyi, producer of HitList N Cruzin and AIT Music Plus, has won the African Outstanding Television Producer and Music Entertainment Personality of the Year 2026 award at the African Global Excellence Award (AGEA).
The award was presented at a ceremony organised by AGEA in Lagos at the weekend, in recognition of Adinoyi’s contributions to television production and music entertainment.
Speaking shortly after receiving the honour, the award-winning producer described the recognition as a collective achievement, noting that his success would not have been possible without the contributions of those who had supported him throughout his career.
He expressed appreciation to the AGEA organisers for finding him worthy of the award, describing it as a significant encouragement to continue pushing the boundaries of television and entertainment production.
Adinoyi also acknowledged his family for their love, patience, prayers and unwavering support through the demanding periods of his career.
He extended his gratitude to the team at Emrose Adinoyi Production and other partners, stressing that the achievement reflected their shared commitment, creativity and dedication.
“This award is a testament to our shared sweat, creativity and dedication. We did this together! HitList N Cruzin and AIT Music Plus would not be where they are today without your brilliant efforts”, he said.
He equally thanked television and radio stations for providing platforms and opportunities through which his productions could reach wider audiences.
The producer dedicated the award to God Almighty, whom he credited with giving him and his team the grace, strength and opportunity to deploy their talents in celebrating their generation.
Calls for stronger brand presence on local media
Beyond celebrating the recognition, Adinoyi used the occasion to draw attention to the growing challenge of counterfeit products in Nigeria, urging corporate organisations, particularly brands in the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries, to strengthen their consumer education campaigns through credible local media platforms.
He called on corporate leaders and brands to collaborate with regulatory agencies, including the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) and the Standards Organisation of Nigeria (SON), to educate Nigerians on how to identify genuine products and avoid counterfeits.
According to him, the declining presence of some established household brands on local television has made it increasingly difficult for consumers to distinguish original products from imitations.
“As a media practitioner, I often observe how challenging it has become for everyday consumers to recognise the original packaging of household staples, partly because their presence on local Nigerian television has reduced over time”, he said.
Adinoyi noted that while international media platforms might reach certain audience segments, Nigeria’s population of more than 200 million people makes local terrestrial television, radio and newspapers indispensable channels for mass communication and consumer education.
He therefore urged corporate organisations to make brand protection and public enlightenment a central component of their Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.
The entertainment guru maintained that sustained advertising and educational campaigns through trusted Nigerian media channels would not only strengthen brand visibility but also empower consumers to identify authentic products, protect public health and support the fight against counterfeiting.
“As the saying goes, darkness can only exist where light is absent. Let us work together to shed light and protect Nigerian consumers”, he appealed.
Adinoyi also expressed appreciation to viewers of HitList N Cruzin and AIT Music Plus for their continued love and support, urging them to sustain their encouragement as the programmes strive to raise the bar in television entertainment.
