Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji

As Nigeria marks its 66th Independence Anniversary, the Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji (AMBO) Media Front has highlighted federal interventions in education and housing as signs of progress in the country’s development journey, particularly in Osun State.

The group, which coordinates the media activities of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, the 2026 All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate in Osun State, said the interventions demonstrated that federal policies and programmes were reaching states and communities beyond Abuja.

In the education sector, AMBO Media Front noted that interventions through the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) and the Universal Basic Education Commission (UBEC) had supported public universities, polytechnics, colleges of education and basic education infrastructure in Osun State.

The organisation put the combined value of the interventions at more than ₦12 billion since 2023.

It also cited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) student loan scheme, which it said had expanded access to financial support for more than 50,000 students in tertiary institutions across the state, including students in Osun State’s 11 technical colleges.

The group said such interventions were particularly important at a time when access to quality education and the cost of tertiary education remained major concerns for many Nigerian families.

Housing Intervention

AMBO Media Front also pointed to developments in the housing sector, citing the Federal Government’s handover of 24 housing units constructed under the National Housing Programme to the University of Ilesa in Osun State.

The Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development officially handed over the units in March 2026, describing the project as an intervention aimed at improving staff welfare and supporting institutional development.

The organisation further noted ongoing federal efforts to expand housing provision across the country, saying Osun should benefit from the broader national housing programme.

According to AMBO Media Front, the 66th Independence Anniversary offers an opportunity to reflect not only on Nigeria’s challenges but also on interventions that are being implemented in different parts of the country.

“October 1 provides an opportunity to reflect on the challenges of the past 66 years, acknowledge the difficulties confronting citizens today, and equally recognise tangible interventions being undertaken by the Federal Government across Nigeria and, specifically, in Osun State”, the group said.

A Call for Sustained Reforms

AMBO Media Front acknowledged that the country’s development challenges remained substantial, stressing that reforms would require consistency, accountability and effective implementation to produce lasting benefits for citizens.

The organisation said progress should ultimately be measured by improvements in the everyday lives of Nigerians, including access to education, housing, healthcare, infrastructure, employment and economic opportunities.

It therefore called on Osun indigenes and Nigerians at home and abroad to remain committed to the development of the country.

“We believe that with sustained reforms, prudent management of resources, greater accountability and continued investments in infrastructure, education, healthcare, agriculture, industry and human capital, Nigeria can realise its enormous potential”, the group stated.

The AMBO Media Front also congratulated Nigerians on the 66th Independence Anniversary and expressed hope for continued peace, stability and development across the country.

“We stand with our principal, Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamiji, and join the good people of Osun State and Nigerians around the world in marking this auspicious occasion. May God bless and keep Nigeria”, it said.
