The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS) at the Kaduna Area Command, has commissioned a fully renovated Senior Officers’ Mess at the Kabala Doki Customs Barracks, Kaduna, in a move aimed at improving officers’ welfare, morale, and operational efficiency.

The commissioning ceremony took place on Wednesday, December 17, 2025, unde r the leadership of the Customs Area Controller, Kaduna Area Command, Comptroller Sa’ad Hassan. The facility was formally commissioned by the Zonal Coordinator, Zone B, Assistant Comptroller General of Customs (ACG) Nsika Umoh, who represented the Comptroller General of Customs at the event.

Speaking during the ceremony, Umoh commended the Area Controller and his management team for their foresight and prudent use of resources in delivering a project that directly enhances officers’ welfare. She noted that the renovated Mess aligns with the reform agenda of the Comptroller General of Customs, which placed strong emphasis on improved working conditions, professionalism, and discipline as critical enablers of effective revenue generation, trade facilitation, and border security.

The upgraded Senior Officers’ Mess now provides a functional and conducive environment for official engagements, fitness activities, and social interaction among senior officers, thereby strengthening esprit de corps and supporting efficient service delivery within the Command.

In his remarks, Sa’ad Hassan expressed gratitude to Umoh, ACG Idris Abba-Aji, and other senior officers for their continued guidance and support. He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to welfare-driven initiatives and urged officers to take collective responsibility for the proper maintenance of the facility in line with the core values of the Nigeria Customs Service.

The event featured an inspection of the renovated complex, a brief formal programme, and a group photograph involving senior officers, other ranks, and invited guests, reflecting the Command’s shared commitment to professionalism, welfare, and excellence in service delivery.
