The Nigerian Meteorological Agency (NiMet) has reinforced its commitment to transparency and accountability with the inauguration and induction of newly appointed members of its Anti-Corruption and Transparency Unit (ACTU).

Speaking at the ceremony, the Director General/CEO of NiMet, Prof. Charles Anosike, described the move as a significant step toward strengthening institutional safeguards against corruption within the Agency. He noted that the development aligns with NiMet’s 2026–2030 Strategic Plan, which is built on the core values of Integrity, Professionalism, Accountability, Commitment, and Excellence (I-PACE).

Anosike explained that ACTU plays a vital role in preventing corrupt practices and promoting a culture of ethical conduct across the organisation. He added that the unit has been expanded from five to eight members to improve its effectiveness and ensure broader representation.

Emphasising that the fight against corruption requires collective effort, the NiMet boss urged staff to uphold integrity and make ethical behavior a central part of their daily operations.

In his remarks, the Chairman of the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC), Dr. Musa Aliyu, represented by Mr. Olusegun Adigun, commended NiMet’s leadership for strengthening the ACTU framework. He called for closer collaboration between the ICPC and NiMet to further enhance accountability and institutional credibility.

Anosike charged the newly inducted members to discharge their duties with diligence, professionalism, and integrity, assuring them of the full support of management.

He reaffirmed NiMet’s commitment to transparency, accountability, and its broader mandate of contributing to national development.
