The Chairman of Air Peace, Allen Onyema, has been awarded an Honorary Doctor of Public Administration (Honoris Causa) by Abia State University, marking his fourth honorary doctorate.
The recognition was conferred during the university’s 32nd Convocation Ceremony, attended by a distinguished gathering of academic leaders, industry stakeholders and dignitaries.
The institution’s leadership team was led by Vice Chancellor Ndukwe Okeudo, alongside Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council Agwu Agwu, and Registrar Acho Elendu, as well as members of the airline’s management.
Speaking at the event, Onyema reiterated his long-held belief in education as a cornerstone of national development.
“One thing is certain, I believe in education. Without education, the country is dead and whatever we must do to encourage education, the government alone cannot fund it. The private sector must be actively involved”, he said.
He also expressed gratitude to the Governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, for the nomination, describing the honour as a reflection of his contributions to both Abia State and Nigeria.
The latest recognition adds to Onyema’s growing list of honorary doctorates, underscoring his reputation not only as an aviation entrepreneur but also as a strong advocate for human capital development.
Beyond aviation, Onyema has consistently championed initiatives that promote education, youth empowerment and social responsibility; efforts that continue to shape his broader legacy in nation-building.
