As the race for the Osun State governorship gathers momentum, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Asiwaju Munirudeen Oyebamiji, has appealed to the Christian community to support credible leadership, promising to run an accountable, transparent and inclusive government if elected.

Speaking during a worship service at the Redeem Breakthrough Cathedral, Region 43 Headquarters of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyebamiji urged Christians to play an active role in shaping the state’s future by voting for leaders based on integrity, competence and the ability to deliver, rather than sentiment.

He also requested prayers for peaceful and credible governorship elections in Osun State, stressing that the Church remains a critical partner in promoting good governance and national development.

The APC governorship candidate paid glowing tribute to the General Overseer of the RCCG, Pastor Enoch Adeboye, commending his consistent spiritual leadership and biblical teachings, which he said have transformed countless lives in Nigeria and across the world.

He equally praised the Regional Pastor, Mrs. Matthew Oluyinka, for her dedication to the growth of the church and service to the Christian community in Osogbo.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception he received, Oyebamiji thanked God for His faithfulness over his life, his family, Osun State and the nation.

Referencing Proverbs 14:34, which says, “Righteousness exalts a nation”, he emphasised that the Church has an important responsibility to promote good governance through prayers, active civic participation and the encouragement of responsible leadership.

He noted that citizens should not abandon their responsibilities after elections but should continue to hold elected officials accountable and ensure public resources are managed in the interest of the people.

Drawing inspiration from biblical leaders such as Joseph, Daniel and King David, Oyebamiji said enduring leadership is built on wisdom, integrity, justice and selfless service.

He assured the congregation that his administration, if elected, would uphold fairness, equity, justice and respect for every resident of Osun State.

“I have come to worship with you today, and I sincerely appreciate the warm reception I have received.

“If entrusted with the responsibility of governing Osun State, I will lead with fairness, equity and respect for all. I also humbly solicit your prayers for peaceful elections in our state”, he said.

The church visit is part of Oyebamiji’s ongoing consultations with faith-based organisations and other key stakeholders as preparations intensify for the forthcoming Osun State governorship election.
