The Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) has reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening collaboration with the Nigerian Navy to enhance maritime security, safety and environmental protection in Nigeria’s territorial waters.
The assurance came as officers and men of the Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS) Quorra visited the NIMASA Operational Base in Kirikiri, Lagos, on a study tour aimed at deepening their understanding of maritime laws, safety regulations and the Agency’s statutory responsibilities.
The visit also sought to strengthen operational synergy between both organisations in advancing Nigeria’s maritime security architecture.
Receiving the delegation, the Director of Marine Environment Management at NIMASA, Dr. Oma Ofodile, reiterated the Agency’s commitment to sustained inter-agency collaboration in promoting maritime safety, security and environmental stewardship.
She noted that closer cooperation between NIMASA and the Nigerian Navy remains vital to safeguarding Nigeria’s maritime domain, improving regulatory compliance and supporting the Federal Government’s Marine and Blue Economy agenda.
The study tour provided an opportunity for knowledge sharing and reinforced the longstanding partnership between both institutions in ensuring safer and more secure seas for Nigeria.
