To assess its level of preparedness to security emergency the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on Thursday morning embarked on a full-scale security emergency exercise.

FAAN in a statement said the exercise was conducted at the Murtala  Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Ikeja, Lagos.

“A bomb threat simulation exercise was carried out to assess the level of preparedness of the Murtala Muhammed Airport to respond to emergency.

The Bomb Squad, Police, Aviation Security (AVSEC), Fire officers, Medical officers, Handling Companies, the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA), Nigeria Airspace Management Agency (NAMA), Airforce Team, FAAN, and all other agencies responded to the threat spontaneously.

“The exercise took place during the checking – in of Ethiopian Airlines  departing passengers. 

“Evacuation of passengers from the hall was carried out successfully.

“The exercise was conducted at the baggage hall of International Terminal 1. 

“Consequently, we advise that people should not panic but go about their  activities as there is no cause for alarm,” the statement read.
