To enhance its capacity in air accident Investigation occurrences the Accident Investigation Bureau, Nigeria (AIB) Nigeria has partnered Banjul Accord Group Accident Investigation Agency (BAGAIA) have begun a training workshop in Abuja, to develop Air Safety Investigators ‘ capacity for optimal performance that would enable them contribute meaningfully to aviation safety, for the common good of all.

The one week training workshop with its theme: “ The Role of Accident and Incident Investigations in the State Safety programmes  (SSP) has participants drawn from Air Safety Investigators, Air traffic controllers, Industry Regulators, and other stakeholders of aviation, from the BAGAIA member  States of Cape Verde, Ghana, Guinea, Nigeria, the host country,     among others, all in attendance.

In his good will message at the training Programme, AIB Commissioner and Chief Executive Officer, Engineer Akin Olateru, represented by AIB Director of Engineering, Engineer Muhammad Hashim  Wali, appreciated  BAGAIA for the workshop initiative.

This is as he wished all participants at the weeklong training Programme of a successful deliberation.

Wali   however, in a brief interview with aviation correspondents, further explained the significance of the training on aviation stakeholders, especially, Air safety Investigators whose safety recommendations help to prevent reoccurrence of air mishaps, and by implication, positively affect standard system of state safety programmes (SSP) framework at all time.

Also in his remark, Banjul Accord Group Accident Investigation Agency (BAGAIA), Commissioner, Engineer Charles Irikefe Erhueh, said the workshop was planned to deepen the knowledge and understanding of of Air safety Investigators in the investigative process and their roles in the State Safety programmes (SSP) for a secure airspace of the region and beyond.

He appreciated AIB Nigeria for hosting the workshop and lauded the African Union (AU) in partnership with the European Union (EU) under the EU -Aviation safety for Africa (EU- ASA) project for their support and collaboration which ensured that BAGAIA had memorable programmes.
