The Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Apapa Area Command, has set a new revenue record after generating ₦28.1 billion within 24 hours, reinforcing the Federal Government’s drive to strengthen domestic revenue mobilisation for national development.
The Command announced that it collected exactly ₦28,102,000,914.61 on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, making it the highest single-day revenue ever recorded in its history.
The latest achievement surpassed the previous record of ₦20.1 billion realised in September 2025, shortly after the current Customs Area Controller (CAC), Comptroller Emmanuel Oshoba, assumed office.
The record comes just weeks after the Command posted an unprecedented monthly revenue of ₦323 billion in July 2026, a development the Service attributed to ongoing reforms, improved compliance, enhanced trade facilitation, intelligence-driven operations and the growing efficiency of digital customs processes.
Speaking on the milestone, Oshoba said the achievement should not be viewed merely as a statistical accomplishment but as a demonstration of the Nigeria Customs Service’s contribution to the country’s economic growth.
He explained that revenue generated by the Service forms part of government resources used to finance critical sectors, including infrastructure, security, education and healthcare.
According to him, the funds collected ultimately support programmes and services that directly affect the lives of ordinary Nigerians.
The Area Controller dedicated the achievement to both the government and the people of Nigeria while commending the Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, and the management team for their commitment to modernisation, automation and reforms designed to improve efficiency, transparency and ease of doing business.
He also acknowledged the support of compliant importers, exporters, licensed customs agents and other stakeholders for their contributions to the record-breaking performance.
Oshoba further recognised patriotic Nigerians who provided actionable intelligence that aided customs operations.
He stressed that every compliant trade transaction contributes to national development and urged stakeholders to continue supporting legitimate business activities.
“A stronger revenue base gives government greater capacity to respond to the needs of the people and create an environment where businesses can thrive”, he said.
The Customs boss, however, cautioned officers and personnel of the Command against becoming complacent, describing the achievement as a challenge to sustain and improve performance.
He emphasised that revenue generation must be balanced with trade facilitation, professionalism, transparency and respect for stakeholders.
Osoba also directed officers to ensure that legitimate disputes are resolved promptly and that customs procedures do not unnecessarily obstruct lawful business activities.
He reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining the momentum through improved revenue generation, enhanced trade facilitation, professionalism and stronger collaboration with stakeholders.
The Apapa Area Command Controllerl maintained that every legitimate revenue collected strengthens the government’s ability to deliver development projects and improve the welfare of Nigerians.
