… targets improved airport governance
The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) on Wednesday in Lagos unveiled its 2025 By-Laws, the first comprehensive review of the Authority’s regulatory framework in 21 years, aimed at strengthening airport governance, enhancing operational efficiency and aligning airport operations with global best practices.
The revised by-laws were officially launched by the Chairman of the FAAN Board, Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje, who praised the Management for updating the legal framework to reflect the evolving realities of the aviation industry.
Ganduje described the review as a landmark achievement that would improve airport administration and support more efficient operations across FAAN’s network of airports.
Speaking at the unveiling, the Managing Director and Chief Executive of FAAN, Mrs. Olubunmi Kuku, noted that the previous by-laws, last reviewed in 2005, had become obsolete and were no longer adequate to meet the demands of today’s dynamic aviation environment.
She said the 2025 By-Laws were carefully developed to address emerging challenges in the industry while aligning FAAN’s operations with international standards and its evolving institutional responsibilities.
According to Kuku, the revised framework will serve as a comprehensive operational guide for FAAN staff, airport users, stakeholders and business partners, promoting safer, more secure and commercially sustainable airport operations nationwide.
She added that the new by-laws underscored FAAN’s commitment to regulatory compliance, operational excellence and improved service delivery, positioning the Authority to better respond to the changing needs of Nigeria’s aviation sector.
