JCN Consulting unveils anniversary lecture, legacy magazine to spotlight three decades of highway journalism in Nigeria, Africa

JCN Consulting, publishers of On The Highway Africa, an industry magazine dedicated to transport and highway affairs, will on November 3, 2026, celebrate 30 years of sustained highway journalism and advocacy in Nigeria and Africa.

The milestone celebration, tagged JCN @ 30 (1996–2026): 30 Years On The Highway, will feature a legacy lecture and anniversary event at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), Ikeja, Lagos, beginning at 9 a.m.

The event is expected to attract stakeholders from the transport, automotive, road safety, security, logistics, government and corporate sectors to examine the evolution of highway journalism and discuss the future of safe and sustainable mobility.

The anniversary lecture will address critical issues affecting Nigeria’s highway sector, including road infrastructure, traffic congestion, road safety, emergency rescue services and the country’s transition towards Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered mobility.

The organisers have proposed two themes for the lecture: “30 Years On The Highway: Safety, Security and Sustainability – From Bad Roads to CNG Revolution” and “The Nigerian Highway in 2026: Roads, Roils & Rescue – Auditing Pain, Progress and the Pathway to Safe Mobility”.

As part of the celebration, the organisation will also unveil a special legacy magazine edition documenting three decades of highway journalism, including the publication’s contributions to road safety advocacy, public awareness and developments in the transport sector.

Since its establishment in 1996, On The Highway Africa has consistently reported on road conditions, traffic congestion and the experiences of road users, while advocating improved road safety and documenting developments across Nigeria’s highway and transport industries.

Over the years, the publication has also broadened its coverage to accommodate emerging industry issues, particularly conversations around Nigeria’s CNG revolution and the transition towards cleaner and more sustainable mobility.

Speaking ahead of the anniversary, Publisher and Chief Executive of JCN Consulting, Mrs. Julie Chi-Nwaoha, described the milestone as an opportunity to appreciate the contributions of stakeholders, readers, partners and road users who have supported the publication throughout its journey.

“This is not just about me; it is about every road user, every stakeholder, every reader who has believed in our brand. 30 years on the highway is by God’s grace and the support of great people who believe in me”, she said.

Chi-Nwaoha explained that the anniversary would provide an opportunity to celebrate the organisation’s achievements, reflect on its journey and examine the future of safe and sustainable mobility in Nigeria.

The management disclosed that media partners, sponsors and well-wishers had begun indicating interest in supporting the historic celebration, which is expected to provide an important platform for conversations around highway development, transport safety and the country’s mobility priorities.

The anniversary marks a significant milestone in the publication’s three-decade commitment to highway journalism, road safety advocacy and improved mobility across Nigeria and Africa.
