The Managing Director of the Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC), Dr. Kayode Opeifa, has donated N500,000 to the Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) to support security operations across the state.

Opeifa announced the personal donation during the presentation of two operational vehicles to the NRC by the LSSTF yesterday.

He said the donation would be deducted from his September salary, urging individuals and corporate organisations in Lagos to voluntarily contribute to the Fund to strengthen its capacity to provide equipment and other facilities needed to combat crime.

Opeifa commended the Lagos State Government for its continued support for security agencies, particularly Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for his commitment to improving security infrastructure in the state.

He said the two operational vehicles donated to the NRC would enhance the effectiveness of security agencies, including the Nigeria Police Force and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), in protecting railway stations and surrounding railway communities.

According to him, improved security around railway facilities is essential to protecting critical infrastructure and ensuring the safety of passengers, workers and residents within railway communities.

Opeifa therefore called on Nigerians, especially residents and businesses operating in Lagos, to support the LSSTF through voluntary contributions.

He said stronger financial support for the Fund would enable it to sustain the provision of logistics, equipment and other resources required by security agencies to keep Lagos safe.
