Ahead of the upcoming 2025 Women in Maritime and Energy Awards (WIMEAwards) a delegation from WIMEAwards paid a courtesy call on the Country Director of SLB (Schlumberger),

Dr. Nosa Omorodion, to discuss gender diversity in the maritime and energy industries as well as strengthen collaborative efforts towards empowering women in these critical sectors.

The meeting emphasised the importance of recognising and celebrating the contributions of women professionals while exploring opportunities for mentorship, leadership development, and capacity building.

Speaking on behalf of WIMEAwards, Dr. Chizoba Anyika, Deputy Director at the Nigeria Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA) and Chairperson of WIME Advisory Board acknowledged SLB’s commitment to fostering a diverse and inclusive workforce. 

“The upcoming WIME Awards aim to honour trailblasing women who are driving change in maritime and energy.

“SLB’s ongoing support for gender equality is commendable, and we look forward to future collaborations that will create more opportunities for women in these industries”, Anyika said.

Omorodion in her part, reiterated the company’s dedication to advancing gender inclusion. “At SLB, we believe that diversity strengthens our industry. We are proud to engage with WIME Awards in recognising excellence and inspiring more women to take up leadership roles in maritime and energy”, Omorodion stated.

The courtesy visit comes as final preparations are underway for the WIME Awards 2025, set to take place on March 28. The event will honour outstanding women professionals and organisations championing gender diversity in the maritime and energy sectors.

The meeting concluded with discussions on potential partnerships, sponsorships, and long-term initiatives that will further enhance women’s representation in STEM, technical roles, and leadership within these industries.

In attendance were Advisory board members, Mrs. Abiola Soremekun, Mrs. Vivian Chimezie-Azubuike and Executive Director, Tunbosun Afolayan.
