The Nigerian Aviation Handling Company Plc (nahco aviance) has sustained its commitment to impactful Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) by sponsoring a primary schools debate competition in Oshodi–Isolo Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The initiative, which underscored the company’s dedication to meaningful community engagement within its operational areas, reflects NAHCO’s resolve to continually expand the scope and impact of its CSR interventions.

Speaking at the prize presentation ceremony, the Group Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Olumuyiwa Olumekun, represented by the Assistant General Manager, Corporate Communications, Mr. Tayo Ajakaye, said NAHCO has consistently made timely interventions in its host communities. These, he noted, include the provision of borehole water, donation of relief materials to internally displaced persons (IDPs), and sponsorship of educational infrastructure and programmes.

Olumekun congratulated the overall winner of the competition, Mafoluku Primary School, describing the performances of the three finalists as outstanding. He also commended State Primary School, Oshodi, which emerged second; Oshodi Model Primary School, third; and Larinde Primary School, which placed fourth.

The Executive Chairman of Oshodi–Isolo Local Government, Otunba Kehinde Almaroof, who attended the final event, praised NAHCO for sponsoring the debate. He described the initiative as impressive and urged the company to sustain the programme, while also calling on the Local Government Education Authority to organise such competitions more frequently among schools in the area.

The championship, themed “Inspiring Young Voices, Building Tomorrow,” provided a platform for primary school pupils to develop their oratory and public speaking skills, encourage healthy competition and gain enriching experiences beyond the classroom.

At the end of the competition, the winning school received a cash prize of ₦500,000, while the first and second runners-up went home with ₦300,000 and ₦200,000 respectively.

NAHCO has continued to demonstrate that its leadership extends beyond aviation ground handling, with community development remaining a core element of its corporate philosophy. Through sustained CSR initiatives, the company affirmed its commitment to fostering sustainable growth and empowering communities within its areas of operation.
