The Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency (NIMASA), Dayo Mobereola, has commended the critical role women play in the growth and development of Nigeria’s maritime industry.

In a goodwill message to mark the International Women’s Day 2026, Mobereola celebrated the strength, professionalism and expertise of women across the maritime sector, noting that their contributions continue to drive innovation, progress and sustainable growth in the industry.

Reflecting on the 2026 theme, “Give to Gain”, the NIMASA boss said the impact of women is evident across various aspects of maritime operations, including sea-going services, regulatory responsibilities, technical functions and administrative roles.

“I celebrate your strength, expertise and invaluable contributions to our maritime industry”, he said.

“The theme ‘Give to Gain’ reflects your daily impact. Through your professionalism, leadership and resilience across sea-going, regulatory, technical and administrative roles, you give excellence and our sector gains progress, innovation and sustainable growth”.

Mobereola further praised the dedication and commitment of women working within the industry, while reaffirming his resolve to support initiatives that promote gender inclusion and empowerment.

According to him, NIMASA remains committed to fostering a maritime environment where women are empowered to excel, lead and thrive.

International Women’s Day is a global observance aimed at highlighting the challenges faced by women while promoting gender equality and inclusion.

The 2026 theme, “Give to Gain”, emphasises the importance of investing in women through education, resources and mentorship to build stronger communities and a more equitable society.
