Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to awarding more construction projects to Julius Berger Nigeria Plc, as part of a broader strategy to boost job creation and accelerate infrastructure development across the state.

The Governor said his government will continue to expand employment opportunities for young people through sustained investment in critical infrastructure and partnerships with reputable construction firms.

He made the pledge on Monday while addressing workers at a Julius Berger project site in Osubi, Okpe Local Government Area. He noted that rising unemployment and economic hardship remain pressing concerns, stressing the need for proactive government interventions to improve livelihoods.

“There are many challenges facing our people today, especially unemployment and economic hardship. Too many of our young people are giving up because opportunities are limited. That is why we must continue to create jobs, empower our youths, and ensure that development reaches every community”, he said.

Oborevwori commended contractors and workers handling projects across the state for their dedication, adding that genuine contributions to development must be supported by all stakeholders.

He further emphasised that his administration will sustain its partnership with Julius Berger Nigeria Plc in delivering key projects aimed at improving infrastructure and creating jobs in Warri, Effurun, and other parts of the state.

He disclosed that the reconstruction of the Effurun Roundabout to NPA axis has already been awarded to the firm, in line with efforts to modernize infrastructure within the Warri/Effurun metropolis.

Oborevwori also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for economic reforms that have boosted revenue to states, enabling the execution of major projects and timely payment of salaries.

He added that the Trans Warri–Ode Itsekiri Roads and Bridges project will be inaugurated after the completion of the Ubeji–Ifie Road.

“We are determined to complete critical projects across the state, including roads, bridges, and other essential infrastructure. While some are ongoing, their completion will bring lasting benefits to our people”, he said.

The Governor thanked residents and workers for their continued support, assuring that his administration remains focused on initiatives that directly improve the welfare of the people.

He also prayed for the safety of all workers and road users, expressing confidence that ongoing projects will stand as lasting symbols of progress in Delta State.
