President, FLIDAN
The Flight Dispatchers Association of Nigeria (FLIDAN) has announced plans to hold its 2026 Annual Conference on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, with stakeholders expected to examine the critical role of flight dispatchers in strengthening aviation safety and operational efficiency.
The conference, themed “Safety and Efficiency: The Flight Dispatchers’ Role”, will take place at the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) Annex Training Hall, Lagos.
The event is expected to bring together aviation regulators, airline operators, flight dispatchers, pilots, air traffic management experts, aviation safety professionals, training institutions, academics, aviation students, members of the media and other industry stakeholders.
Focus on safety and operational efficiency
According to FLIDAN, the conference will provide a strategic platform for participants to discuss the evolving responsibilities of flight dispatchers in ensuring safe, efficient and sustainable flight operations amid rapid technological advancements and increasing operational complexity.
Discussions will focus on operational excellence, aviation safety management systems, collaborative decision-making, technological innovations in flight operations, regulatory compliance, human factors, capacity development and the future of flight dispatch practice in Nigeria.
‘Flight dispatchers remain indispensable’
Speaking ahead of the conference, FLIDAN President, Mr. Daniel Ayuba, said the changing aviation landscape has made the role of flight dispatchers more critical than ever.
He noted that dispatchers serve as key operational partners to pilots by overseeing flight planning, weather monitoring, fuel optimisation, operational control, regulatory compliance and real-time decision-making, all of which contribute directly to flight safety and efficiency.
“Flight Dispatchers are an indispensable part of every successful flight operation. They work behind the scenes, making critical operational decisions that directly contribute to flight safety and efficiency”, Ayuba said.
He added that the conference would provide regulators, operators and other aviation professionals with an opportunity to examine how dispatch professionals can further enhance aviation safety, improve operational performance, embrace innovation and support the sustainable growth of Nigeria’s aviation industry.
Platform for collaboration and knowledge sharing
Ayuba said the annual conference underscores FLIDAN’s commitment to promoting professionalism, continuous learning, knowledge sharing and stronger collaboration across the aviation industry.
The programme will feature keynote addresses by leading aviation experts, panel discussions, technical presentations, interactive sessions and networking opportunities designed to encourage the exchange of ideas and industry best practices.
Strengthening professional standards
In a statement, FLIDAN General Secretary, Mrs. Victoria Adegbe, said participants would benefit from discussions on emerging global trends, operational challenges, regulatory developments, technological innovations and practical solutions aimed at improving the efficiency and resilience of Nigeria’s aviation sector.
She said the conference is expected to strengthen professional standards, enhance operational competence and reinforce the culture of safety that remains the foundation of global aviation.
Adegbe reaffirmed the association’s commitment to advancing professionalism, promoting continuous capacity development, encouraging operational excellence and supporting the adoption of international best practices for the sustainable development of Nigeria’s aviation industry.
